Shattered dreams are never random. They are always a piece in a larger puzzle, a chapter in a larger story.

Ancet Mokaya, a young man whose hopes are slowly dying. As he struggles to hold on to the hope of a better tomorrow, each day he is alive to him is a loop, a repetition of a pain that doesn’t seem to go away.

Living life as a pauper on the streets of Nairobi, Mokaya’s life journey is defined by nothing but bad luck.

Mokaya knew what he wanted in life- a better education. However, the loss of his beloved mother was a clear indication of hardships and suffering.

His higher education at Strathmore University was put on hold as he was not able to support himself financially. So as it is in Nairobi, he got into the hustle and bustle to try to make the ends meet.

As he was hustling as usual he got involved in a hit-and-run accident that left him with a broken leg and rendered him temporarily immobile. An accident that led to a blood infection.

He had no choice but to live on the streets as a beggar in the hopes that someone would come to his aid. Sooner rather than later, Tuko Media reached out to him to assist him in soliciting assistance from well-wishers, and indeed, netizens were moved by his story and eager to lend a hand.

While telling his story, he said that although he was appreciative of the well-wishers, the assistance would not sustain him for a long period of time.

“There was a change of management from my well-wishers, and that is why they stopped assisting me, and I had no option but to come back to the streets.”

He went on to say that Strathmore University offered him a scholarship with two requirements: that he sustains himself during his coursework and covers the cost of his exams.

He passed the information to well-wishers hoping to get back on track with his education. But they did not send feedback.

“When there was a change of management from my well-wishers, I just happened to come back to the streets.”

Living on the streets has proven to be a toll on him, his wish is to finish his education, look for a job to sustain himself and live a decent life.

Mokaya now pleads with Kenyans to come to his aid.

“All I want is to just go to class, complete my studies and get a job,” he said.
