George Maringa, a KTN anchor, has announced his departure from the well-known news organisation after a distinguished career lasting over six years.
In a statement on his social media, the renowned journalist said goodbye to Standard Media group a parent media house that hosts KTN News, Radio Maisha, Vybez Radio, Standard Newspaper, and Spice FM.
The anchor went ahead and expressed excitement for the next chapter of his life.
“5 years, 11 months... Thank you for walking the journey with me. On to the next assignment,” his statement read in part.
His final major job at KTN was to cover the East Africa Community Regional Force in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Maringa's career in mainstream media began in 2017 when he interned at the Standard Group PLC.
During this period, his love for storytelling and advocacy for society's less fortunate began to take shape.
In his early years, he was the network's first correspondent, stationed in Meru County, where he covered news from Embu, Tharaka Nithi, Meru, Isiolo, Lamu, and Marsabit.
Prior to joining KTN News, Maringa worked at the African Virtual University (AVU) in several positions within the Educational Technology and Learning Resources (ET&LR) Unit.
In this capacity, he was instrumental in coordinating Open Distance and eLearning efforts as part of the Multinational Project Phase II.
He has an undergraduate degree in Mass Communication with a speciality in Broadcast Journalism from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT).
He is also an alumnus and fellow of Finland's Foreign Correspondents' Programme, which has helped him improve his international reporting abilities and understanding.
