Mumias East Member Of Parliament Peter Salasya Says He Only Earns KSH. 97K Monthly

Mumias East Legislature Peter Salasya sparked outrage on social media after posting his pay stub online. 

Despite earning more than a million shillings in gross salary, the vocal MP demonstrated how large the deductions on his payslip are.

According to the payslip posted on Twitter on 23 February 2023, the Mumias East lawmaker takes home only Sh97,000 monthly after deductions from a gross salary of around a million.

“Let me demonstrate to Hon Aaron Cheruiyot, deputy prezda Gachagua my great friend CS Murkomen that all Kenyans have shares in this country. I CONTRIBUTE 300K plus to revenue and the president is the only our watchman for our contributions and its our right to ask for development” His tweet read

This has evoked emotions among citizens some saying that Members of parliament earn so little and that their cash comes from deals and allowances.
