Lookup TV’s News Anchor and Reporter Pheona Kenga was on Thursday night feted at the Annual Journalism Excellence awards in the Digital Economy and Business Reporting TV Category.
The Annual Journalism Awards are held every year to celebrate journalistic excellence in the country.
This year’s event was held at the safari park hotel in Nairobi organized by the media council of Kenya
Kenga who is a Senior Swahili Anchor at Lookup TV was recognized for her feature titled “Base Ya Chicken Inn” which aired on 1 st of February 2023 telling the story of a chicken business in the Mukuru slums.
In her feature, Pheona Kenga Highlighted how the Business Woman, Jacinta Waruguru was making a kill from her business in which she sells chicken parts which include, the head, feet and intestines.
The story’s uniqueness and impact earned her a place as a finalist in the coveted media awards in the country.
Kenga’s story was nominated alongside TV47’s Electricity on Wheels and Royal Media’s ‘’The Dent in Meru Gold” beating the two to emerge the best.
Donned in a black dress the talented journalist who boasts of over 8 years of experience in media walked to the stage upon hearing her name to receive her award which was handed over to her by Trans Nzoia Senator Allan Chesang.
Speaking after Receiving her award Pheona Kenga Welcomed the recognition noting that she was humbled and honored to have been feted.
She However acknowledged that the success of her story was a product of team work and the crew she worked with in executing the story. She expressed her gratitude to the team for their contribution towards the success of the feature
