Jane Ngoiri, a former NTV news anchor, has landed a prestigious position in President William Ruto's administration.
Attorney General Justin Muturi appointed Ngoiri to the HIV and Aids tribunal in a Gazette Notice. She will be one of the tribunal's six members.
The notice stated, in part, "The Attorney-General appoints, the chairperson and members of the HIV and AIDS Tribunal in the exercise of the powers conferred by section 25 (1) of the HIV and AIDS Prevention and Control Act.”
She will work alongside Dr. Solomon Musani, Prof. Walter Godfrey Jaoko, Dr. Irene Njahira Mukui, Nelson Wanyonyi Osiemo, Brian Ouko Yego, and Chairperson Carolyne Mboku.
The HIV and AIDS Prevention and Control Act of 2006 allowed for the creation of the HIV and AIDS Tribunal in 2009.

The establishment of the HIV and AIDS Tribunal in Kenya, the first of its kind anywhere in the world, is a brave move toward the promotion of laws and regulations that advance fundamental freedoms and human rights.
The HIV and AIDS Tribunal lacks criminal jurisdiction but has the authority to receive evidence, hear witness accounts, hold thorough hearings, and issue rulings on any matters arising out of any violation of the Act's provisions.
