Kenyan Comedian Eric Omondi lashes out at a section of Kenyan gospel artists for failing the industry by turning it to ‘Sodom and Gomorrah’
The comedian is convinced that Kenya has lost its identity in the creative industry since most of the artists who won the people’s hearts 10 years ago through their music have turned to unholy ways.
“The gospel industry was the identity of Kenyan music, but we lost our touch with God and the church has let down Kenyans,” he said.
Eric Omondi took advantage of the moment to call out ‘rogue’ artists alleging they were “rotten potatoes” in the industry.
He mentioned some of the starring gospel artists like Daddy Owen, Jimmy Gait, Mercy Masika, Alice Kamande, Gloria Muliro, Eunice Njeri, Bahati, Willy Paul, Guardian Angel, and DK Kwenye Beat.
“The gospel industry has failed us. Willy Paul, DK Kwenye Beat, have more dirty scandals than musicians in the secular industry,” he claimed.
Eric Omondi threw shade at Gospel Singer Jimmy Gait for his tremendous transition from a hitmaker to a laptop seller and allegedly taking women to Saudi Arabia to work.
“Jimmy Gait is currently selling laptops and takes women to Saudi Arabia for work, where the girls are raped and are dying.”
In response to the claims, Jimmy Gait stated that he was on a spiritual break and will be back soon.
“I will be back soon. I am in the process and I miss my fans and the industry,” he said.
The Musician-turned-politician Kevin Bahati was called out to stop politicking and ‘Youtubing’ with his wife and get back to ministry:
“Bahati left gospel for secular and is hanging onto their Youtube channel with his wife Diana Marua.”
“Wachana na politics and come back to God. Give us songs that are inspired by God and influence the youths,” he added.
Kenyan Song-writer Wilson Radido aka Willy Paul responded to Eric’s statement:
The majority of the gospel musicians cited appear to disagree with Eric Omondi's assertions that the industry is dead.
“The most immoral people in Kenya are former Kenyan gospel artists.” Continue to say that, “the rise of homosexuality in Kenya is because of the former gospel artists.”
He went ahead to threaten to disclose the artist who allegedly joined the LGBTQ community.
