Google, Spotify, YouTube, and TikTok, four of the largest internet companies, have revealed what would be popular on their platforms in 2022.
One hot question was, "What is opaque? In searches that started with the word "what is," the phrase came in at number nine. No prizes for guessing why it was a popular search topic.
Their studies provide a glimpse into Kenyans' interests and thoughts this year.
Even while those results may come as a surprise, the unusually precise search query "How to preserve face health by regulating the type of food ingested" ranked first in the "How to" health category.
The research also showed that Kenyans have a tendency to demand particular outcomes on timescales that raise eyebrows.
Kenyans were particularly interested in sports in general because it was one of the most often searched topics, with football being one of the most popular sports. After IEBC, searches for World Cup 2022 fixtures and AFCON ranked second and third, respectively.
Football fans conducted research on the most searched worldwide personality and found it to be Gabriel Jesus of Arsenal. Global personalities could not avoid the search.
Data from YouTube revealed a dramatic increase in the popularity of locally produced entertainment, including comedies, music, chat programs, and election news. The most popular content was produced locally and celebrated various Kenyan lifestyles.
