After accumulating 11 years of experience, TV whiz and Deputy Editor, Broadcast at Standard Group Sophia Wanuna has decided to quit the Mombasa road-based media house.
Sources close to her revealed to Look Up Digital that the TV Queen tendered her resignation in the second week of April and her last day at the giant media house will be April 21, 2023.
“Yes it is true she resigned and her last day at the Standard Media house will be April 21, 2023.” The source confirmed.
Due to her years of experience, leadership, and exceptional reporting skills on various issues, Wanuna's departure is undoubtedly a loss to the Standard Media group that houses KTN News, KTN home, KTN B TV, Radio Maisha, Vybez Radio and Spice FM.
The news anchor had been off the air for months, according to a spot check, as her last appearance on KTN was on a show on Spice FM on February 7, 2023, where she served as a guest host to talk politics.
The TV Queen boasts over 11 years of experience and she was a morning express host at KTN.
Sophia is arguably one of the best political reporters, used to host KTN News' political program, Checkpoint, on Sundays at 9:00 p.m. She also served as the lead reporter for The Big Story, a current affairs program that aired from 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. before taking a break.
Her role as moderator of the debate between Martha Karua of Azimio and Rigathi Gachagua of the United Democratic Alliance on July 19, 2022, was a significant turning point in her career.
Wanuna and NTV's James Smart grilled the two candidates during the debate about the pledges they made during the campaign and their goals for the nation after the vote.
The source however did not reveal her next move and efforts by our digital sleuths to reach out to Sophia Wanuna bore no fruits.
