Another KTN Journalist Quits Days After Sophia Wanuna Resigning

There has been a mass exit at the Mombasa road-based media house with Brian Okoth being the latest journalist leaving the Standard Media Group.

Last week, sources close to Sophia Wanuna revealed to Look Up Digital that the TV Queen had decided to leave KTN after a staggering 11 years at the station. 

Taking to his social media platforms on Friday 21, April 2023 the former K24 and Citizen TV digital journalist announced his exit after working for 2 years at the giant media house.

“My two-year journey as the News and Current Affairs Editor, Digital at the Standard Group PLC has come to an end, temporarily. I joined the SG family on April 5, 2021. A look-back at what we achieved as a team leaves me with so much joy. Together, we broke big news on time on SMS, social media and the website.” His message read in part.

Brian Okoth was instrumental at the Standard Media Group digital desk boasting an 8-year experience having worked at K24 a Media max owned station and Citizen TV which is housed by Royal Media Services.

The digital journalist further pointed out that he will be joining TRT an international media house as a senior News editor and Digital Directorate.

“God-willing, I will soon be joining TRT World as the Senior News Editor in the Digital Directorate. TRT is the Turkish Radio and Television Corporation. Like BBC and CGTN, it’s the international English broadcaster for the Turkish nation that reaches an audience base of about 1.2 billion people worldwide.” He Wrote

Brian Okoth is not only a notable name to have left the Mombasa road-based media house in recent days. There has been a mass exit ranging from anchors to Editors to reporters.
