Waihiga Mwaura, a Citizen TV news Anchor, has left Royal Media Services (RMS) after working there for 14 years.

Taking to his social media, the multimedia journalist revealed that Tuesday, May 2, would be his last day at the Dennis Pritt road-based media house.

"My time at Royal Media Services (Citizen TV) has come to an end after 14 incredible years. Focus on Africa on BBC News (BBCAfrica) will be my next stop. I'll soon share more information, but until then, catch me on my final broadcast of #Newsnight on Citizen TV at 9:00 p.m.” his social media statement read.

He expressed his gratitude for working his way up through the ranks and gaining experience to become one of the best news anchors in the nation.

Waihiga's current position included feature editing and special assignments editing in addition to news anchoring.

From June 2006 to July 2007, Waihiga worked as a sales representative for a local business before joining Citizen TV. He completed a one-year training program at the CFC Bank Upper Hill Branch in Nairobi two months later.

He gained the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform functions related to customer service, cash management, and general branch management.

He started working for RMS as a sports anchor in September 2009. He won the CNN Multichoice Award in 2012 for a story about Maasai Cricket Warriors at the time.

He ascended the corporate ladder to become a news anchor in January 2017, where he turned Citizen Extra from a filler role into a three-hour program that covered both domestic and foreign affairs.

Waihiga has won numerous prestigious awards throughout his career, including the 2015 Mo Amin Africa Awards and the prestigious BBC World News 2018 Komla Dumor.
