What if these prayers President Ruto is treating Kenyans with are not answered? What if the drought persists this year again? Are there signs of rain this year? What is the meteorological department saying? Are we to believe that countries like Egypt, Israel and many other Middle East countries are supposed to pray for rain?

It is important to note that times have changed and climate change is real. Areas that are known to be receiving rain are now receiving little or no rain while those that have not been receiving rain are receiving unexpectedly high amounts of rain.

We are witnessing prolonged periods of drought and high temperatures as global warming eat into agricultural production.

Farmers in different parts of the country have not received promised and most hyped subsidized fertilizer. With the biting effects of the ailing economy, some farmers are now hopeless as some agricultural experts predict low food production this year.

If this prediction is anything to go by, the cost of food in Kenya will skyrocket. This means Kenyans will have to brace for tougher times ahead.

But then who knows, president Ruto’s prayers may be answered. Kenyans who believe in these continuous prayers are expecting miracles. In fact, they say this is the year of abundance.

As many say in the streets, it is hard to convince a woman in love, advice a man with a handsome pocket or someone who believes in miracles.

The belief in miracles today in Kenya is shocking!  Maybe there needs to be more elaboration. Some are asking, what is Ruto seeing that we are unable to visualize? Convince us.

Today, anyone opposing or criticizing these heaven-bound, spirit-filled and demon-chasing prayers is seen as sent from hell and trying to stop a holy marching band more so a chosen one of God, Ruto. In fact, in his prayers president Ruto prayed for those opposing his journey not to stand in his way.

The struggle to balance the state and the church is evident. Religious leaders are now divided on president Ruto’s continuous prayers as some say that Ruto is overdoing religion. In this case, there is a danger of dividing the country on the basis of faith and religion.

The Azimio leader Raila Odinga says that some religious leaders are sanitizing very unhealthy political developments in the country. It is clear that the debate as to whether religious leaders are supposed to be involved in politics is taking centre stage and it is unfortunate that president Ruto is the one fueling and advocating for it.

Political analyst Herman Manyora says ‘’Ruto is using churches to sanitize himself and to seek legitimacy”’ something which Manyora argues will yield nothing.

Manyora is also concerned with the shift of allegiance of some Azimio MPs alleging that these MPs have been bought to give Ruto legitimacy, something he says only Kenyans can give.

Today more than ever before, president Ruto and his deputy are pushing Kenyans to believe that their predicaments are associated with former president Uhuru Kenyatta and that they require more time to bring the country back to stability.

The amazing dual is not saying how long it will take to achieve this. Maybe the miracle aspect may come into play.

Will the president really manage to convince a large section of Kenyans and the Azimio leader to believe in these prayers and the associated miracles? I hear Azimio leader Raila Odinga is organizing one to pray for IEBC. Miracles are real bwana. I believe in God.
