A group of religious leaders from different faith groups including Christians and Muslims have on Thursday reaffirmed and defended the religious, cultural, and traditional position against what they termed an orchestrated onslaught from groups and organisations hell-bent on imposing an alleged immoral agenda as demonstrated under the guise of protecting human rights.

The leaders claim that in recent times, there has been a subtle growth of activities by groups and organisations promoting the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBTQ) agenda which goes against religious and cultural values as well as the laws of the country.

The church leaders are now calling upon Parliament as the representative of the people of Kenya to come out and enact legislation that strongly protects what they now term as cherished family values.

“As members of the religious fraternity, we will not remain silent, we will always be vigilant and soldier on in fighting for the protection of family values from the evil machinations. This remains our commitment.

The lobbyists claim the section through their respective groups have filed cases in the courts through efforts to legally entrench their activities, alluding that cases by the lobby groups are mainly funded by foreign agencies in their determinations to change the country's penal laws to decriminalise homosexuality. ” stated the leaders

“While it is clear that the laws of this country expressly criminalise acts of homosexuality and other unnatural acts, we are concerned that the government is looking the other way as  groups and organisations with sinister agendas continue to promote LGBTQ activities among Kenyans and especially within our young people.” Claimed the lobbyists.

The men of God have hailed the Heads of State of our neighbouring countries including Presidents Yoweri Museveni of Uganda and Samia Suluhu Hassan of Tanzania sustained fight demonstrated through their alleged unequivocal stand against these evils.

“We take this opportunity to remind our President His Excellency Dr. William Ruto to walk the talk on his pledge against LGBTQ activities in the country. President William Ruto needs to follow the same path and take the lead in ensuring that our cultural and religious traditions are maintained irrespective of coercion and pressure from Western states. “ Said the leaders

The leaders are now urging Kenyans to reject what they claim as poisonous chalice whose ultimate goal is to negatively influence the minds of young people and future generations to accept the wayward practices which have detrimental effects on their mind, health and social wellbeing.

“As you are all aware, religious leaders play a cardinal role in guiding the faithful in matters that are central to their spiritual and mundane affairs and we will not relent on our role to fight against the sinister schemes being planted to corrupt the moral values of Kenyans. “ reiterated the men in clothes.
