His family mourned him as generous and greatly dedicated to his career, leaving a lasting impact on all who met him.

“Dad was a remarkable man whose generosity, sense of humor, and dedication to his career left a lasting impact on everyone he met,” part of the statement reads.

Mutegi, whose career in media began in 1979, and blossomed for several decades, was well known for his professionalism and dedication to the truth.

Njau was well-known for his work at Citizen TV, where he performed several roles from being an editor to a resident analyst on the ‘Cheche’ power breakfast show, where he won the respect of his colleagues.

Colleagues took to social media to remember Njau as a mentor and friend, who was always willing to share his experience and knowledge in the media.

“Devastated by the passing on of senior colleague, co-host, and panelist Mutegi Njau. May your toil on this earth be rewarded and your memory last forever among those you mentored and gifted, or who savored your goodness,” his former co-host David Makali said.

According to the family, funeral arrangements are underway and the details will be made later.

“We are currently in the process of arranging his funeral and will share the details within the next day or two. Your presence would be greatly appreciated as we gather to honor his memory,” the family said.

“During this difficult time, please keep our family in your thoughts and prayers. We are deeply grateful for your continued support and for the love and friendship you extended to Dad throughout his life,” the family said.
