Simba Corporation, a renowned name in Kenya's automotive industry, has introduced the latest Ashok Leyland ECOMET Truck model, aiming to carve a niche in the profitable light-duty trucks segment.
This unveiling, which coincided with the inauguration of Swanley Motors dealership in Thika Town, marks a significant step for Simba Corporation in its quest to expand its market presence. The 7-tonne truck is strategically positioned in the fiercely competitive 7 to 10-tonne trucks category, which recorded 1,378 units sold in 2023.
Naresh Leekha, the Group Managing Director of the Motors Division at Simba Corporation, views these dual launches as pivotal in driving the company's growth aspirations in the Mount Kenya, Eastern, and Rift Valley regions.
"The introduction of the Ashok Leyland ECOMET model in Kenya addresses a gap in our product lineup and reinforces Simba Corporation's stature as a holistic transport solutions provider catering to the diverse needs of Kenyan customers. Priced competitively at Kes 4.5M, the ECOMET offers versatility, easily converting into a 29 or 33-seater bus. This versatility opens doors for us to tap into broader segments of the market, particularly public and mass transport," Leekha emphasised.
By providing such adaptability, Simba Corporation, through its subsidiary Deluxe Trucks and Buses, aims to broaden its market share while offering solutions beyond conventional trucking needs, encompassing hardware, mattresses, water tanks, and other logistics segments.
Mohamed Varvany, the Chief Commercial Officer, highlighted that Simba Corporation will extend financing options and other incentives for the ECOMET Truck, including a five-year warranty or 500,000 km, whichever comes first.
"Businesses often plan their investment purchases at the start of the year. For us, this presents an opportune moment to announce our partnership with Swanley Motors and establish connections with new truck customers. In the current economic climate, customers seek reasonably priced trucks that they can easily present to their financing partners, free from concerns about performance," Mr. Varvany stated.
Targeting crucial business sectors such as corporate and public service transport, agribusiness, construction, and education transport, Varvany noted that the new Thika dealership will not only offer sales, spares, and vehicle servicing but also showcase other Simba Corporation brands in the region.
