The pain of losing a parent can make one lose themselves too. Having a support system that holds you down and keeps you up is one of the most recommended ways of healing.
For Martin Kasavuli, there are the people who kept him going after the demise of his mother, the late legendary media personality Catherine Kasavuli.
During his mother’s burial, Martin’s speech brought tears and tingles to every eye that paid attention.
He spoke about how protective he had been of his mother, praising her beauty and glamour. He didn't forget to mention the love, prayer and support he received from Kenyans. Much as he constantly appeared strong from the outside, even a blind man can clearly see the broken pieces and unshed tears in his heart for his mother.
In a question and answer session on his Instagram page, he said that his friends in Kenya and South Africa have been his shoulder and comfort for him and his daughter.
He states that he has twelve friends he counts on who have been with him throughout the period of his mother’s illness and after her demise.
“They have been there for me since the first day we knew mum had cancer. Some of them have been here (in Vihiga) with me for one month,” he stated.
