Major Boost To KNCCI Richard Ngatia as he seeks Re-election for Chamber’s Presidency

The Coast region has endorsed the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) incumbent president Richard Ngatia for a re-election bid.

Ngatia who is battling the KNCCI Vice President Dr Eric Ruto in the presidential race got a major boost in the race after getting backing from the coastal areas of Mombasa, Tana River, Taita-Taveta, Kwale, and Kilifi.

“Jumuiya ya pwani wishes to announce and make a declaration that as the coastal region they are locked behind Ngatia’s re-election bid as the KNCCI president," declared officials from the coastal region.

Welcoming the move, Ngatia promised to continue fighting for shared prosperity.

 “Your pledge to vote for me and Shariff is a demonstration of your commitment to make a difference together. I want to assure you that we will continue fighting tirelessly for our shared prosperity,” said Mr. Ngatia in a statement.

Ngatia is seeking for re-election under Team Volcano with Abdulwalli Sharrif of Tunasco who has interests in agriculture, oil, and construction as his running mate.

Vice President Erick Ruto who is eyeing to unseat Ngatia picked Mombasa-based businessman Mustapha Ramadhan as his deputy.

On Thursday, Dr Ruto who is a medical doctor and businessman, received an endorsement from county and regional chairpersons from Rift Valley and Western during a strategy meeting in Eldoret.

Following Ngatia’s endorsement in the coastal region his support base has surpassed the 35-mark from Kenya’s 47 counties after being endorsed by the Lake Region, Mount Kenya, Lower Eastern, and the areas around the Nairobi Metropolitan.

the coming national elections set for June 8th have set in motion an intense campaign at the national chamber of Commerce and Industry.
