Kenya’s total export to Tanzania post the biggest growth in the EAC (East African Community) that surpasses the value of previous years, which shows recent growth in the relationship between Kenya and Tanzania.

Data released by the economy survey 2023 shows that last year Kenya exported goods worth shs.57.37 billion to Tanzania in 2022 compared to 2021 where they exported goods worth Shs. 45.56 billion which shows an increase of Shs. 11.81 billion among the East African Communities.

The result of the increase may have been due to the performance between the two countries after years of tiffs that had caused a trade ban. Kenya’s main imports are wood cereals and edible vegetables while Tanzania Exports pharmaceutical products, plastics, iron and steel

Former President Uhuru Kenyatta was accredited for resetting the ties between the two counties ending strained ties between the two largest economies in the EAC which hindered the smooth flow of goods and services through the borders.

Tanzania double-checked goods for standards in recent years, which Kenyan manufacturers protested, making supplies to the important country uncompetitive.
