The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has published photos of people suspected to be perpetrators of criminal activities during the anti-finance bill protests that have been going on for three weeks now.
In a statement published on x formerly Twitter, the DCI released photos of the suspected criminals, directing them to immediately surrender to the nearest police stations for further processing.
"The Individuals whose images/photos appear below are wanted by the police for their unlawful activities during the anti-finance bill demonstrations. We therefore advise them to report to the nearest police station for further police action," the DCI stated.
This comes after the death of two people, suspected to be goons who had infiltrated the peaceful protests in mlolongo, Machakos County on Tuesday. The two are victims of mob justice. According to the police commander of athi-river east
sub country Anderson Mbae in a report by the Star, the deaths were reported to mlolongo police station and the two males are yet to be identified.
"There were two reported deaths of unknown male adults who were victims of mob justice. They were lynched by demonstrators after they were allegedly found stealing from the public," Mbae told the Star.
The peaceful protests, mobilized by young people popularly known as Gen Z against the finance bill 2024, have now turned violent after infiltration by goons targeting to terrorize people.
The protests entered a third week on Monday despite the president announcing that he would not sign the contagious bill into law.
A stern warning has been issued to individuals planning to use the nationwide protests as a way of carrying out criminal activities.
