Brazilian forward Matheus Cunha has been signed by Wolves on an initial loan basis from Atletico Madrid.
Cunha, 23, will begin playing on January 1 before committing to a permanent four-year contract at the end of the current campaign for a potential sum of 40 million euros (5.2b Kshs).
He is the first acquisition made by the newly appointed Julen Lopetegui at Wolves, who took over last month.
"I'm really excited to be part of this group and to be part of this club - it's a big club," said Cunha.
The forward started his professional career in 2017 with Swiss club Sion. He later played for RB Leipzig and Hertha Berlin in Germany before joining Spanish club Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2021. In 54 appearances for Atletico Madrid, he has scored seven goals.
Despite not making the roster for the Qatar World Cup, he has eight senior caps and was a member of the Brazil Under-23 team that won gold at the Tokyo Olympics.
"I'm excited to play in the Premier League, to play in Wolverhampton, and I think the most important point is that I'm happy like a kid," added Cunha.
"[Lopetegui's] a big coach, he has a big mentality. He told me about Wolverhampton having a big project and I believe in it a lot, and I believe in him."
