Siaya Governor James Orengo has come out to distance himself and the party from the visit by a section of ODM members to Statehouse.
The nine members of parliament have been castigated for visiting the head of state on Tuesday.
Issuing a statement, the party termed the MPs as selfish people who went for their own selfish gains.
Orengo said the visit by the nine MPs was not sanctioned by the orange party
“We disassociate ourselves with a visit to State House, Nairobi by a group of ODM MPs. The visit by the MPs was personal and not sanctioned by any of our official ODM party organs,” Orengo said in a Twitter statement.
Orengo’s statement follows other ODM Leaders statements on the same with Kisumu governor Anyang Nyong’o calling their exit from the party a blessing in disguise.
"I am not surprised that an amalgam of self-seeking MPs went to State House without the blessing of our progressive party, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM)," Nyong'o said.
"After all, in a revolutionary situation such as the one currently staring us in the face in Kenya, it is helpful for the ODM leadership to remember Lenin's warning. In a revolutionary situation, V.I. Lenin wrote: "Better fewer but better."
The MPs have however defended their visit saying it was meant for development purposes following the President's visit to the region.
"Today we had breakfast with the President, I followed up on the Start date of the construction of affordable housing in the Highrise ward and the completion of the Langata TVET,” Jalang'o said.
Jalang'o was accompanied by Bondo Mp Gideon Ochanda, Elisha Odhiambo Mp Gem, Mark Nyamita Mp Uriri, Caroli Omondi Mp Suba South, Shakeel Shabir Mp Kisumu East, Mp Paul Abuor of Rongo constituency, John Owino of Awendo constituency and Kisumu Senator Tom Ojienda.
