Former Roots Party running mate Justina Wamae has revealed the amount of money George Wajackoyah was paid to join Raila Odinga’s Azimio la Umoja.
In an exclusive interview with Look Up TV on 25th May 2023 the renowned politician said that former Presidential candidate Wajackoyah was only paid Ksh 10,000.
“Azimio la Umoja killed the party that I was in by coveting my party leader and paying him to lure him to their side,” Wamae revealed.
The former running mate further said that the Azimio la Umoja should stop complaining when Kenya Kwanza “buys” their members because they did the same to the Roots Party.
Despite garnering more than 61,000 votes in the August 2022 presidential elections, the duo fell out in what Wamae said was betrayal from the party leader.
“For my part, I stuck to the original plan of legalizing and regulating marijuana. And it is documented. Again, I have stated how I defended our party from being labelled a "project." During the debate, I was asked if we were a "project," to which I replied, "No, we are not." But, to the electorate, we appeared to be a state project, a narrative fueled by our party leader's statements.” She explained.
Her sentiments come after wrangles that have been witnessed in the Jubilee party.
