Former presidential contender Professor George Wajackoyah has boldly asserted his potential victory in a presidential race against Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua within the Mt Kenya region.
In an interview with the media, Prof. Wajackoyah accused DP Gachagua of imposing a ban on his visits to the central region and questioned the motives behind such actions.
"Why are people like me banned from spreading my message in Mt Kenya? If I were to run for election today, while 'Baba' is still with us, I would defeat Gachagua and secure an early morning win in the region," declared Wajackoyah.
Furthermore, Prof. Wajackoyah criticized DP Gachagua for what he saw as interference with his supporters in Kenya, despite enjoying favorable treatment during his recent international trips to countries such as the United States and the United Kingdom.
"In Jamaica, I was accorded a red-carpet welcome, and in the UK, I was treated with the same level of honor, even walking alongside world leaders," he added.
Drawing a parallel between their respective careers during the era of the late President Daniel Moi, Wajackoyah highlighted that DP Gachagua had once served as a district officer, while he himself had worked as an intelligence officer.
He expressed disappointment that the behaviour of the current Deputy President still fell short of the expected standards despite his rise in the political hierarchy.
"Why would Gachagua make false claims about having tigers in Kenya? These are baseless lies! If he were in the U.S., he would have faced impeachment. I am calling for Gachagua's resignation for spreading falsehoods about our country," Prof. Wajackoyah asserted.
Additionally, Wajackoyah voiced his dissatisfaction with certain individuals within President William Ruto's administration.
He criticized the president for not addressing the controversial remarks made by Trade Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria, deeming them offensive. Wajackoyah called for Moses Kuria's immediate resignation.
"Moses Kuria's statements are outrageous. He should step down, and this should have happened without delay. How can a cabinet secretary encourage people to 'chimba' their own well, while the president remains silent?" questioned Wajackoyah.
Furthermore, Wajackoyah urged for the resignation of Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro, who also holds the position of Chair of the Budget and Appropriations Committee in the National Assembly.
