Gibson Gathu Mbugua who played the role of ‘Prosecutor’ in the popular show Vioja Mahakamani is dead. The veteran of the show underwent a kidney transplant and was promising a full recovery. The family is now mourning the death of the actor.
"Good morning friends and family. This morning I received a phone call from Mediheal Hospital informing me that our brother Gibson has rested. It's been a journey but in all God is still on the throne," read the message from the family.
In August 2022, he confirmed that the kidney transplant was successful and was optimistic that he would be back to his jovial self, promising to continue nurturing upcoming thespians. The actor who had been battling diabetes for over 20 years, launched a public appeal in May to enable him to undergo a kidney transplant. Former President Uhuru Kenyatta led in the fundraising for the celebrated comedian with a personal donation of Ksh 2 Million.
“I have been in hospital since July 18, 2022, and I was discharged on August 3, 2022. I feel so good. I am full of energy. I think dialysis had taken a toll on me. Now I am slowly going back to my usual self. God is so good.” Gibson said
However, his condition started to deteriorate and was rushed to the same facility where he was admitted to the intensive care unit until his last breath on Thursday morning.
“This is a huge loss. I am devastated. This was his fourth month in ICU, and we did everything but my brother Gibson left us this morning. I will be sharing more details later.” A heartbroken Hiram Mungai, popularly known as Ondiek Nyuka Kwota said.
