The Turkish club coach Hatayaspor made a statement on Wednesday about the Ghanaian midfielder, Christian Atsu, claiming that he hasn’t yet been found contradicting the Ghana Football Association (GFA) announcement on Tuesday that he had been found and rescued from the collapsed building.
Moreover, being medically attended to Ghana’s ambassador to turkey, Francisca Ashietey-Odunton, says that there was "confusion" over Atsu’s location.
Atsu played for Chelsea in England for 4 seasons then later transferred to Newcastle in 2017 where he played 100 games for 5 seasons.
He later relocated to Saudi Arabia in 2021. In September last year, he signed a new deal with Hatayspor in the Turkish Super Lig side located in the southern province of Hatay which is a few meters from the origin of the Monday strike.
Gaynor Frascione, Atsu’s agent, expressed how she is disturbed about her client.
Many nations have offered assistance in relation to the earthquake that hit Kahramanmaras, Hatay, Osmaniye, Gaziantep, Sanhurfa, Diyarbakir, Malatya and Adana.
An update by Hatayspor manager Volkan Demirel states he returned to Istanbul from the earthquake zone in Hatay and confirmed that Atsu is indeed missing.
