One person succumbed while 23 others got serious injuries after two vehicles burst in flames along Mombasa road following a head on collision
Confirming the incident police boss in Machakos County, Joseph Ole Napeyian said a passenger bus and a Toyota Hilux car unfortunate accident was as a result of head-on collision leading to those vehicles going up in flames.
According to Napeyian, the accident which was reported to Kyumbi police station in Machakos County occurred along Nairobi-Mombasa highway, a few metres from Maanzoni lodge in Athi River around 1:00 a.m. on 21st of April.
He further states that the person who died was a man driving the Toyota Hilux car which was heading to Nairobi while the 23 who were injured were passengers boarding the bus.
The body of the deceased was taken to Machakos level 5 morgue awaiting an autopsy while the injured are undergoing treatment at Machakos level 5 hospital.
Remains of the accident have been taken to Kyumbi police station while officers from the police station are running investigations on the accident.
