Two people have been confirmed dead in Turkana South after bandits sprayed with bullets the vehicle they were travelling in. According to the driver of the bus, Ishmael Wekesa four bandits accosted them in a daring attack killing the two mother and her son on the spot
The attack also left two students who were heading to school critically injured. The two were rushed to Lodwar referral hospital where they are undergoing treatment while the bodies of the deceased were taken to the mortuary at the facility
Confirming the incident Turkana county police commander Samuel Ndanyi has noted officers in the expansive county have intensified patrol and enhanced surveillance on the main road from Kitale to Lodwar and that they are doing everything to bring the bandits to book
Turkana East member of national assembly Nicholas Ngikolong has condemned the attack and has urged interior CS Kithure Kindiki to enhance security, especially along the volatile Turkana and Pokot border
