Former US President Donald Trump yesterday put out a good showing in the first US Presidential debate ahead of one of the most closely contested USA elections.

According to a CNN flash poll, 67% of Americans were of the opinion that Trump had won that debate against President Biden’s 33%.

Trump spent most of his time attacking the Biden administration and its policies and did so effectively. He claimed that Biden was the worst President in US history adding that he wouldn’t have contested if Biden had done a good job.

He said that Biden was leading the USA to World War 3 and on the issue of immigration, Trump said that the US border was the safest in his tenure but since Biden opened it, it led to entry of terrorists into the US.

On President Biden’s side, he rebutted on the immigration saying that the Border Patrol had even endorsed him which was denied by the Border Patrol through their socials saying that they have and will never endorse him.

Biden attacked Trump’s indictment saying that Americans should never forget that Trump is a convicted felon. He also claimed that Trump wanted the US to get out of NATO if he was elected President.

Political pundits who are Democrat-affiliated opined that Trump had lied almost the entire debate, a claim that was backed by Vice President Kamala Harris, First Lady Jill Biden and even Biden himself.

Democrat lawmakers were said to be worried by Biden’s performance with some contemplating to ask him to step aside while others thought he failed to ease worries about his age since he fumbled in his speech a couple of times.

They were also mad that he didn’t capitalize on demolishing Trump on the abortion issue which is big for the Democrats. Trump alluded his indictments to the fact that he was Biden’s opponent.

The next debate is scheduled for 10th September.
