After Jamhuri Day festivities on Monday, December 12, President William Ruto is anticipated to inaugurate the revamped Uhuru Park.

After 13 months of renovations, primarily carried out by the now-defunct Nairobi Metropolitan Services, the newly renovated Uhuru and Central parks will be made available to the general public (NMS).

The new park contains waterfronts and a contemporary garden. The park's lily pond has been transformed into Uhuru Aquascape, an aquarium.

The 12.9-hectare park also boasts well-kept trees, re-designed walkways, and green areas.

A Nyatiti-shaped events garden, an outdoor amphitheatre with an audiovisual screen, and a kids' play area with bounce houses and merry-go-rounds are all-inclusive.

It has a memorial honouring medical professionals who died battling the coronavirus outbreak and also houses a monument to honour the health workers who lost their lives during the same.

Monuments to the Mau Mau independence warriors and the renowned Nyayo statue will remain in the park.

In order to capture Kenya's floral biodiversity, the park also has a botanical area with all varieties of flowers and plants, all of which have labels to aid in learning.
