The fate of two teachers in Tinderet sub county Nandi County now hangs in the balance after authorities launched investigations into the cause of death of a form-one student from Chemise secondary school in the county.
The deceased, 16-year-old Kevin Kiptanui who was a student at Chemase Secondary is reported to have died at Nandi Hills Level 4 hospital hours after being admitted following chest complications
Kiptanui died on Friday evening while undergoing treatment at the hospital. He is reported to have been assaulted by his teachers after he was found cheating together with another student in the mid-term physics exams.
Confirming the incident, Tindret OCPD Mohamed Jire assured that the officers in the region have already started investigating the matter noting that the school is yet to make a formal report. The incident was reported by the mother of the deceased.
’’ We will look into the allegations to establish the truth about the incident and take appropriate action’’ said Jire.
Jire said the postmortem results will indicate the cause of death and if at all it will be proven to be the beating Kiptanui received then the officers will swing into action and arrest the teachers
Kiptanui’s death comes just two weeks after he had reported to the learning institution. His delay to report was due to lack of school fees.
The school has so far been closed indefinitely after on Sunday evening the students became restless demanding an explanation over the death of their mate.
