Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina has blamed ‘petty people’ after his name was discarded among the names of Kenyans who were set to receive state honors.

Kenyans who qualified to receive the honor were recognized by President William Ruto during the 59th Jamhuri Day celebrations.

Senator Ledama believes that he was not shortlisted because of his conduct at the Bomas of Kenya during the announcement of the Presidential results in August 2022 by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission boss Wafula Chebukati.

Olekina stated that he had been matched by the joint Secretariat Honors committee which informed him of his nomination but an application to stop it was filed immediately. Senator Olekina understands that Speaker Moses Wetangula who led the Kenya Kwanza team were behind the block. He went further define them as ‘being so petty’.

"I was involved in the process, I was called and told that I have been nominated, to share my information and everything. The Joint Secretariat on Conferment of Honors should have written back to me and said there has been a petition that has been raised on your matter, you should come and defend yourself," Senator Ledama said.

The Narok senator feels like the right way for him was to be given a chance to defend his name. He further argues that his conduct at Bomas of Kenya should not be the main reason as to why the committee would deny him the chance of being granted a national honor.

"I was nominated to receive the honors of the Chief of the Burning Spear because of my work and my position in Parliament by the Joint Secretariat. But because of the incident at the Bomas of Kenya, a petition was engineered and I was removed from the Kenya Kwanza team led by National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula who sat there and said that I caused mayhem so I should not be honored," OleKina said.
