As the confusion within the jubilee party continues to take center stage in the political arena. The office of the Registrar of political parties has come out to validate the resolutions of a meeting held by the party’s National Executive Council suspending the secretary General Jeremiah Kioni.
The Registrar of political parties Anne Nderitu wrote a letter addressed to the Deputy Secretary General Joshua Kutuny saying the meeting held on Friday, February 10, 2023, was properly convened as per the party’s constitution.
Joshua Kutuny had earlier on written to the registrar informing the office of the party's resolution to suspend SG Jeremiah Kioni, Jubilee Vice-chairperson David Murathe and National Treasurer Kagwe Gichohi over what the outfit termed as gross misconduct and laxity.
"The Office has taken note of the contents of your submissions and the resolutions. It is also noted that the meeting was properly convened as per the party constitution," the letter reads in part.
The office of the registrar also directed the jubilee party to exhaust all internal dispute resolution mechanisms to handle the disciplinary process against the ousted officials.
"It is expected that the party shall update the Office on the progress of the internal dispute resolution and disciplinary processes. You are further required to adhere to the provisions of the party constitution as you undertake the said processes,” the letter reads.
On the jubilee party’s desire to Leave the Azimio Coalition, the registrar asked the party to observe the Azimio la Umoja - One Kenya Alliance agreement in plans to exit the alliance.
On Friday the jubilee party’s National Executive Council held a press briefing to announce that Jeremiah Kioni would be replaced by former Kieni MP and recently elected EALA MP Kanini Kega as dispensary action is sought against Kioni.
The Jubilee NEC also appointed Eldas MP Adan Keynan as the acting Vice Chairperson replacing David Murathe and Kitui Woman Representative Rachael Nyamai as the National Treasure.
