Police in Homa Bay county are looking for four robbers who robbed Rangwe parliamentary candidate Omburo Odaje Kshs. 1 million at gunpoint from his home.

In the incident on Saturday, July 30, a gang of robbers armed with pistols arrived at Odaje’s house in Kanyang’ondo village, Central Kochia area in Rangwe sub-county, at around 9a.m in the morning on a motorcycle.

The politician and his wife were in a meeting with his supporters when the incident happened. Two thugs remained at the gate to watch while two of their colleagues invaded Odaje’s living room where 20 of his followers were holding a meeting.

The two ordered them to lie face down before heading to the bedroom where they found Odaje’s wife with their two-year-old son. It is reported that the robbers pointed a gun at the politician’s wife and forced her to hand over a bag containing cash. The bandits then took away his phone and disappeared without injuring anyone.

Odaje arrived home later that night and reported the incident at the Rangwe Police Station.

Confirming the incident, Chief Criminal Investigation Officer in Homa Bay County Abed Kavoo said the police are questioning the people who were in Odaje’s house at the time of the robbery.

“The stolen woman’s phone has been turned off. There were many people in that compound, so we are still gathering information to enable us to get the necessary instructions to help us arrest those who committed the crime,” said Abed Kavoo.
