Azimio Party leader Raila Odinga on Wednesday February 22, lauded Comedian Eric Omondi for his bravery in holding peaceful demonstration against Kenya’s high cost of living.

Speaking at Azimio’s rally in Jevanjee gardens, Raila stated that every Kenyan has the right to hold demonstrations.

“Now Eric Omondi went to Parliament to defend Kenyans' rights and have peaceful demonstrations,” he stated.

Raila Odinga questioned why the current administration would prevent demonstrators headed by comedian Eric Omondi and arrest them from staging their demonstration in parliament buildings, despite the fact that it is their constitutional right.

He went on to say that he will see to it that the Ruto administration understands that holding peaceful demonstration is a right.

“We want to show Ruto that peaceful demonstration is a right,” Raila warned.

Some Azimio supporters, such as Narok senator Ledama Olekina, replied to Eric Omondi's protest by welcoming him on board to fight to Kenyans’ rights.

“Welcome onboard Eric Omondi. More people will join our movement of change. The cost of living is too high.” Ledama stated.

This comes after comedian turned activist Eric Omondi, staged a protest against rising living costs in the face of skyrocketing gas and power rates.

On Wednesday, February 22, comedian Eric Omondi and 16 other protestors were charged with unlawful protest and released on Sh10,000 cash bail each.
