On Tuesday 28th 2023 while on a work tour in Kajiado County President William Ruto told Azimio to focus on the bipartisan talks and not take to the streets as earlier threatened. The president assured the residents of Nairobi that he will make sure he protects their businesses and that any attempt by the opposition to disrupt businesses will be dealt with accordingly.
"I want to tell them, the demonstrations they are planning in Nairobi CBD to destroy property will not work, I am the President of Kenya and if you want to continue, I will deal with you, enough is enough, it will not happen anymore, Let us stop fighting each other, stop demos and destroying Kenyan properties and businesses," he said.
He continued to say that if Azimio doesn’t want dialogue he will not allow them to destroy people’s properties. The president called on the opposition to continue with the bipartisan talks in parliament
"It is not possible for us to allow a few people to destroy property and people's businesses in quest of their own interest and selfish issues, we must be a country that cares for everyone", he says.
Azimio has written a formal letter to the Police stating that there will be street protests on May 2nd in the letter dated April 24.
