Kenya’s Head of State William Ruto has come forth to condemn the killing of at least 42 people in Shakahola forest in an outrageous cult scandal.

Speaking at the 26th Kenya Prisons Service Cadets Pass-Out Parade on Monday April 24, 2023, the President declared Mr Mackenzie to be a terrible criminal who has used religion to coerce innocent Kenyans into heinous acts that result in unnecessary loss of lives.

What we are seeing in Kilifi, Shakahola, is akin to terrorism. There is no difference between Mr Mackenzie who pretends and postures as a pastor when in fact he is a terrible criminal. Terrorists use religion to advance their heinous acts. People like Mr Mackenzie are using religion to do exactly the same thing,” the President stated.

He continued by urging Kenyans to keep an eye out for those who have outrageous intentions to exploit the religious sector.

“Look out for those who want to abuse even the religious sector by masquerading as religious people yet what they do is contrary to the teachings and to the beliefs of the religion whether they are Christians, Muslims or any other religion,” he noted.

Additionally, the President stressed the necessity of closing these similar places of worship and prosecuting individuals like Paul Mackenzie.

“Those religious institutions should be closed down because they are working against the collective interest of the people of Kenya. Those responsible should be prosecuted.”

“People like Mackenzie and all other terrorists and criminals do not belong to any religion, they belong to jail and that is where they should be,” he added.

This comes after the Red Cross reported that a total of 112 people are still missing whereas 42 people are dead. Probe still continues.
