Kenya Power is an electricity company that owns and operates most electricity transmission and distribution systems in the country.
Over the past year, it is said to have disappointed a lot of residents, especially Nairobi residents as there has been a shortage of electricity supply.
Residents of a number of estates in the counties of Nairobi, Kiambu, and Homa Bay have recently been informed of an upcoming power outage on Tuesday 10 January owing to scheduled maintenance by Kenya Power.
According to a warning from the power company, the outage will occur in Nairobi's Joska and Mirema neighbourhoods from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.
Ruai DC, Githunguri, Block 10, Makongeni, Stage 26, Twin Bird, Kipawa, Made in the Streets, Kingoris, Kamulu, Reflector, Brookshire, Ngong, and nearby customers would all be impacted by this.
From 8 AM to 5 PM, the outage will affect Kiambu County's Kirigiti, Riabai, Migaa, and Loki areas.
But what really could be the reason behind the power shortage? Should they prioritise efficiency in terms of staff members in order to curb the shortage probe?
President Ruto’s new administration’s plan to ramp up the electricity supply, for a better power supply in the future to connect households and businesses to power should give hope to our residents especially residents of the affected areas.
