In a dramatic turn of events, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua finds himself in the midst of a political storm, with internal dissent threatening to undermine his position within Mount Kenya politics.

The once-united front of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party and his stronghold in Mount Kenya is now witnessing fractures, as voices demanding Gachagua's removal as President William Ruto's deputy grow louder.

The rebellion originates not only from within Gachagua's own UDA party but also from his Mount Kenya base, signaling a significant challenge to his political career.

Leaders and key allies of Deputy President Ruto hailing from Central Kenya and Mt Kenya East have openly thrown their support behind alternative candidates for the deputy position in the upcoming 2027 elections.

Central Kenya Members of Parliament, primarily from Murang’a, are rallying behind Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro, while their counterparts from Mt Kenya East are advocating for Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki as a replacement for Gachagua.

The dynamics within UDA and the Mount Kenya region are creating a complex political landscape, as alliances shift and loyalties are tested.

Adding another layer of complexity to Gachagua's political predicament are alleged schemes by Public Service Cabinet Moses Kuria, who is purportedly positioning himself as the next political kingpin for Mount Kenya.

Tension between Kuria and Gachagua escalated over disagreements on the high cost of living, with the Deputy President urging the Cabinet Secretary to refrain from addressing Kenyans with arrogance.

Meanwhile, beyond the internal struggles within the Kenya Kwanza movement, former President Uhuru Kenyatta is quietly orchestrating a political comeback.

Despite publicly declaring his allegiance to the opposition, Uhuru has been holding discreet meetings with his allies to strategize and plan his next political moves.
