Police FC secured three points in the FKF premier league smashing Batoto Ba Mungu Sofapaka 3-0 at the Police Sacco Stadium. The police team put on a commanding performance from the start of the game, scoring their first goal in the 10th minute. Sofapaka tried to mount a comeback, but the police defence was too strong for them to break through. The police team added two more goals in the second half to seal their victory.
Police FC saw them push themselves to fifth position with 53 points after playing 29 matches while 19 times champions Gor Mahia are leading with 63 points having played the same number of matches.
According to Sofapaka head coach David Ouma, poor defending led to them losing against Police FC.
“For me, I think we had a good momentum from last week match against Vihiga Bullets as well as Kariobangi sharks, so I think my situation was conceding goal from our opponents from the very moment of our first goal” said Ouma
“We had chances to equalize this game, but I think we were a little bit unfortunate not to make the goals, we had the possibilities but Police FC capitalized on our mistakes and won”. Added Ouma
The loss now puts Ouma's side in 12th position with 34 points in 29 matches.
On their hand Police FC head coach Francis Baraza hailed the crowd especially the player’s parents who went to cheer courtesy of Betika company who sponsored them as well as applauding his boys for hard work and dedication which led to their win.
“I want to applaud the boys for their hard work and dedication towards the win, am also grateful to Betika Company for bringing the boy`s parents to come and cheer them on.” Said Baraza
“Sofapaka is a good team, they had a good run and luck was on our side, especially after scoring the first two goals before netting the third one, they played with a nice structure and we only capitalized on their mistakes and won”. Commenting about Sofapaka.
Other matches that took place in the midweek fixture, dockers, Bandari Fc had a good run against slums Mathare United beating them 2-0. This was their second win from their three matches after acting coach Twahir Muhiddin, took over from Anthony Kimani.
