Fellow senators Castigated the senator for walking into the chambers with a stained dress. With others accusing her of picketing and using the wrong channels
Senator Gloria walked into the house in a white suit with a clear stain of blood from her private parts, an indication that she was on her monthly menstrual cycle.
The nominated senator termed it a natural accident and defended her dressing saying she was properly dressed and that she can’t be judged for being a woman and experiencing a natural occurrence.
“I want to know are senators’ women who have no period? I want to know Mr. Speaker, I stained my dress on my way here and this period shame I am experiencing is what most girls go through and are forced to drop out of school, “said the senator.
According to the nominated senator, she stained her dress on her way to the senate.
This has led to the senate giving notice of motion on Free Sanitary towels ending period poverty. The motion seeks to facilitate provision of feminine hygiene products in all public schools, ensure that all schools that don't have bathrooms that facilitate privacy, cleanliness or proper disposal of hygiene products are properly equipped, create awareness and take advocacy measures on reproductive health issues related to period poverty, include in the curriculum a dedicated lesson per week to teach girls on menstrual hygiene and ensure that sanitary products will be obtainable timely, consistently, and in a way that respects the dignity of concerned persons.
The move by the senate came after she demonstrated the ordeal girls and women go through when experiencing their menstrual cycle. Which include being shamed and dropping out of school.
The Senate speaker asked the nominated senator to step out of the Chambers before the session went on.
