The Spouse of the Deputy President Pastor Dorcas Rigathi has launched a 2-days free medical camp in Nairobi targeting matatu drivers and conductors in the city.

Speaking during the launch of the camp Pastor Dorcas called on those in the matatu sector to shun away from drugs and substance abuse as well as help in speaking out against those selling and distributing illegal substances among the drivers and conductors.

She cautioned the drivers against drunk driving or driving under the influence of drugs and substances.

“Please do not drink and drive, and even if you are frustrated don’t drink and drive. “She told the drivers.

More than 800 matatu drivers, conductors and street families were treated during the first day of the camp.

Pastor Dorcas has also pledged to support taking 100 street children to technical training in her recently launched Dorcas Rigathi Centre in Nyandarua.

“A nation that does not take care of its vulnerable people is a broken nation,” she said.

Nairobi Deputy Governor Njoroge Muchiri said the government is working on a culture change among those in the Matatu sector so as to ensure they offer the best customer service.

“We are working on a culture change program to ensure that they understand that they are offering customer service, I would urge you to be cooperative with them. “He said. 

Starehe Mp Amos Mwago also lauded the efforts made by Pastor Dorcas in dignifying the lives of the vulnerable populations.

Super Metro Sacco Chairman urged Matatu owners to embrace a cashless payment system in order to curb corruption on the roads.

The camp will end tomorrow.
