Parents of Oleroko mixed secondary school in Transmara West are furious with teachers for what they perceive to be consistently poor KCSE performance.
The angry parents granted the principal two weeks to get an alternative school, so that a more qualified replacement could take over.
With 23 candidates sitting for the 2023 KCSE examination, Oleroko Mixed Secondary School received a pitiful mean score of 1.5
Kisarama Lengume, a parent, complained, over the KCSE results where the leading three candidates earned ‘’D’’ plain with two others receiving ‘’D’’ minus. The rest got an "E."
The parents are now calling upon President Ruto and Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu to transfer the principal without further delay.
Another parent, Thomas Sunyei, decried the school's low enrollment of less than 60 pupils in spite of a successful fundraising campaign to raise money for improvements to the facility and academic standards.
Parents also accused the board of management of sleeping on the job as the situation at the school deteriorated.
Benson Basa called out the principal, who had been at the school for the last 12 years without making a significant academic impact, echoing the feelings of other parents.
However, a female parent managed to stir up feelings when she demanded that the school undergo a complete makeover in order to give parents credit for the sacrifices they made in raising their kids.
