In the December 8, 2022 ward elections, Omwendo, who ran for re-election on the ODM platform, received 1,502 votes, placing him second behind Yassin Muchelule of the KANU, who received 1,525 votes.

In the ward's 17 polling locations, there are 9,121 registered voters, but on December 8, just a small portion turned out to cast their ballots.

Other candidates who participated in the same elections include; Mohamed Abdi who came third with 166 votes from (ANC), Yassin Sikolia(UDA) who finished fourth with only 79 votes and  Hassaan Washiali from (DAP-K) party managed to get 11 votes.

On August 8, 2022, Nucleus Mumias North Ward MCA elections were postponed when candidate Abdalla Kweyu was killed in a car accident that led to the just concluded re-elections.
