One Dead, Three Injured As Perimeter Wall Collapses In Ruaka

One person confirmed dead and three others injured following the collapse of a perimeter wall onto a nearby residential structure made of iron sheets in Ruaka, Kiambu County. The incident occurred amid the ongoing heavy rains.

Kiambu County Governor, Kimani Wamatangi, confirmed the incident upon arrival at the scene and promptly ordered the evacuation of all tenants residing in the affected area.

“Visited a site in Ruaka, in Kiambaa Sub County, where a section of the perimeter wall of a residential apartment collapsed on an adjacent iron-sheet residential structure due to the ongoing heavy rains,” he stated.

The Governor went ahead to state that his multi-agency team will be conducting inspection and assessment procedures to ensure that all precautionary measures are implemented.

“No one will live in these houses until we complete investigations and approve that the houses are safe for people to live in them. We have given you two hours to take important items your houses. We will then seal the houses,” Wamatangi said.
