Africa 100 metres record holder Ferdinard Omanyala continued his winning streak after clinching a 100-meter race at Athletic South Africa Grand Prix 1 at Tuks Athletics Stadium in Pretoria.
Omanyala Commonwealth gold winner clocked 10.12 seconds ahead of Benjamin Richardson who came in second clocking 10.33 seconds.
“I was expecting fast times but a win is always a win and I celebrate in everything and thank God,” said Omanyala,
“Every race counts as I focus on the next race where I hope it will be faster with better climatic conditions. My target is still the same...run a sub 10 and looking forward to that, “added Omanyala.
Omanyala, 27 years old police officer now shifts his focus to the ASA Grand Prix 2 which takes on April 19 at Germiston stadium, Johannesburg where he has won before with 9.98 seconds beating home champion Akani Simbane who came second place in 10.11 seconds
Samwel Imeta, Omanyala`s compatriot, came in fourth position with 10.39 seconds.
In men`s 400 meters hurdles, Wiseman Was clocked 49:29 sec beating home athletes Sabelo Dhlamini and Constant Pretorius who emerged second and third in 50.01 and 50.48 seconds respectively.
