Azimio La Umoja leader Raila Odinga has slammed the Kenya Kwanza Government over what he termed as state capture of the Judiciary and Legislature.
In a hard-hitting statement on Wednesday, January 24, the outspoken leaders called out the meeting conveyed by President William Ruto and Chief Justice Martha Koome an act of selfishness and an undemocratic move.
Odinga remarked that the current occurrences within the Kenya Kwanza Government are unprecedented, unlike anything observed in previous administrations. He expressed surprise at the involvement of the National Assembly Speaker, Moses Wetangula, questioning this given the clear constitutional mandate for the independence of the three arms of Government.
Later, Raila addressed a gathering in Marafa to expand the ODM recruitment efforts, urging party members to foster unity to sustain their strength.
In attendance at the Kilifi rally were ODM Deputy Party Leader Wycliffe Oparanya, Kilifi Governor Gideon Mung’aro, Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Sharif Nassir, Deputy Governor Flora Mbetsa, Kilifi Senator Stewart Madzayo, along with Members of Parliament Amina Mnyazi (Malindi), Paul Katana (Kaloleni), Harry Kombe (Magarini), Mishi Mboko (Likoni), and Kilifi Speaker Teddy Mwambire, among other leaders.
Additionally, Kilifi Senator Stewart Madzayo expressed his disappointment, stating that leaders of the Kenya Kwanza administration persist in demonstrating incompetence in the Governance of the country.
The senator said the Deputy President was messing up the country by sidelining the regions that did not support Kenya Kwanza.
