Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leaders are mourning after one of the party's founding members past away.

Raila Odinga, ODM party leader, mourns Councillor Ochieng Ruku, as a staunch loyalist who supported the party through thick and thin.

"The ODM fraternity mourns the passing on of Cllr. Ochieng Ruku. He was not only a member of the party but also a founding member. He was resourceful to the party, gave advice on many issues, and led from the front. The PL @RailaOdinga mourns him as a staunch loyalist. May he RIP." a tweet reads.

According to the party, Councillor Ochieng Ruku was a resourceful person who diligently advised the ODM party on many issues.

Many described Ochieng, saying he could pass as Raila's version of Barngetuny who diligently served former late President Daniel Arap Moi.

Until his death Ochieng Ruku was the ODM party director of political affairs in the Nyanza region.

A number of the party's supporters sent their condolence messages with others pleading with the party to help the family.
