The homicide detectives have reported that the first phase of investigations surrounding the controversial death of Geoffrey Mwathi has been concluded and they are now moving up in speed to start the second phase.
Through their twitter account, the detectives have highlighted the major investigative steps taken in accounting Jeff Mwathi’s last moments especially at DJ Fatxo’s apartment.
“The process included interviewing of the first cluster of witnesses in the case, forensic examination of the scene and retrieval of CCTV footage that captured the deceased's last moments.”
The detectives have highlighted that scientific analysis of the collected evidence will help in revealing more information to help settle dust resulting from the death of the 23 year old graphic designer.
“We are now progressing to the second phase of the investigations where several persons of interest in the case will be interrogated and appropriate recommendations made before being forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecutions for action.”
The directorate has also urged the family and Kenyans at large to give them time as they unravel more details to the cause of Jeff Mwathi’s unforeseen death.
Since the death of Jeff on February 22, 2023 Kenyans online have been advocating justice be served to the deceased family through the #JusticeForJeff one that forced Interior CS Kithure Kindiki to direct DCI boss Amin Mohamed to conduct a thorough investigation on the issue.
The Directorate’s update comes just hours after a few family members and Kenyans camped outside Dj Fatxo’s Redwood Apartment gate in white t-shirts printed with Jeff’s picture demanding justice for the deceased.
