Leaders of the Islamic religion from the North of Rift Valley on January 16, 2023, urged President William Ruto not to be persuaded by foreign countries to accept same-sex relationships in the country.
They urged him to follow the example of retired President Uhuru Kenyatta who had a strong stance against the issue.
Speaking to the Press, Islamic leader Sheikh Abubakar Bini, emphasized that Islamic and Christian religions do not accept the issues of homosexuality and it is appropriate for all Kenyans to unite against any plot to undermine the situation.
They have also asked the council of elders and religious leaders in the country to organize counselling and training sessions for children and young people.
It is believed that this will help maintain African traditions and customs that are suffering from the turmoil of foreign behavior that continues to take root in the country.
This comes after the death of LGBTQ Activist Edwin Chiloba.
