The Kenya national super league is getting more competitive, as Murang’a seal closes the gap between them and the table leader Shabana FC by beating Naivas 2-0 at Saint Sebastian stadium.

The goals scored by John Kiplagat and Aboubakar Traore secured the win for the Murang’a-based home team who are currently in the second position in the NSL table standing with 21 points, only 4 points behind the league leaders, Shaban FC who have 25 points. The Seal’s next fixture will be on Sunday 19th against Darajani Gogo.

Naivas on the other hand has lost two of their games. However, they settle in the 8th position with 15 points having played eleven games so far. Naivas will host the sixth position Kisumu All Stars on Saturday 18th.

In another match Kibera all-stars were defeated by one goal to nil by Gusii. Junior Kassim’s boys got the only goal in the match through Wycliffe Nyangechi to seal the win for the home team. The Kibera-based team came to the match with more confidence after their impressive win against Shaban FC, ending Shaban’s nine games unbeaten run.

The Gusii head coach Junior Kassim, says they hope to finish in a good position at the end of the season. The winner will be a benchmark for the upcoming fixtures as it was important for the team after drawing with SS Assad.

“The win was so important for the team after the draw against SS Assad. The win will serve as benchmarking for coming fixtures to get more good results."

After the defeat Kibera Black Stars manager Evans Ogutu conceded the loss as his boys lacked to score despite numerous scoring opportunities.

“I am impressed by the players, they tried to equalize the scores but unfortunately they didn’t get the ball at the back of the net."
