In what seems to be a continued rebellion by a section of opposition leaders who are warming up to president William Ruto’s administration, Sirisia member of parliament John Walukhe has pledged not to set foot to the planned Azimio rallies. Odinga has called on the public to join in rallies to protest against the high cost of living and the current administration.

Walukhe has given the many challenges that the country is facing as one of the reasons that he will not be part and parcel of the planned rallies.

"Kenya is facing very many challenges ranging from hunger to drought which needs urgent attention and not political demonstrations, “Said Walukhe

The legislator has added that his Sirisia constituency has a string of issues to be solved and cannot be solved through political demonstrations saying “My people have no water and if this drought persists, they may also lack what to eat so I have no time for Azimio rallies.” Walukhe Said.

This comes only a few days after 30 jubilee MPs held a meeting with President William Ruto and Deputy president Rigathi Gachagua at state house Nairobi on Wednesday.

The move is seen as a way for Walukhe trying to get off the hook of his pending court case by warming up to the government with the hope that his case might be withdrawn.

Walukhe is facing a 67 years jail term or a Ksh 2 billion fine over defrauding the national cereals and produce board (NCPB) Ksh 300 million through a maize tender alongside Grace Wakhungu.
